I've been thinking about doing Extension 2 for Maths as one of my subject in Year 12, especially since Year 11 is already almost done. I wanted to do Software Engineering or Advanced Computing in uni so I believe that there is some purpose for me to do the subject. My marks and ranks right now are as follows:

- Math Advanced - 94% for Term 1 and 83% in Term 2 (i kinda bombed term 2 because i lowkey completely forgot i had the exam and was stressing for other exams). My Semester 1 reports only shows my rank based on my first mark (which is 11/225).

- Math Extension - 83% for Term 1 and I haven't gotten my marks for Term 2 but I'm estimating a high 80 (hopefully). My rank for Extension is 6/76.

I'm honestly not putting as much effort in Maths as I think I should be (which I've started to realise now) and plan to put more in next year. I currently take English Advanced, Business Studies, Software Engineering, Visual Arts (which I plan to drop) and accelerated Biology (which I won't be having it next year). Technically, if I bomb anything else, I have my Biology marks to support me (basically just saying I'll have done 12U in total but I'll only be doing 10U next year). I should have a lot of time to spend for Maths as my other subjects won't be as intensive (at least, from what I'm aware of) and I would only have 10U so more frees. My school has a few B6 in Ext. 2 so I think if I really tried, I might be able to do it. Any advice?

Give it a go and don’t expect to get anything right away and you can always drop if you fall behind. Idk how hard your tests are but mark wise and rank wise you seem to be doing fine in mx1 so I wouldn’t be too worried.

Maths extension 2 isn't quite a hard requirement for software engineering or computer science for admission purposes.

But yeah I think give your situation it is worthwhile to give it a go but consult your school teacher as well.

advanced scales horribly so u need to do extension 2. ur better off doing standard and getting 100 in it rather than doing advanced and getting 90
