Hey,

I'm currently in year 10 and wanting to know what older economics students think about this. Recently I've got back my subject lines for year 11 2009. There were not enough students to make a class but I still really want to do it. I decided to do distance ed economics.
But my careers advisor has told me it's not a good thing to do distance ed and has strongly advised me to do something else on the lines. He said it wasn't that important if you wanted to do economics in Uni and many people don't go well in it to get a good Uai.

Just wondering if anyone has got a great UAI still doing distance ed courses and if anybody knows if doing economics in yr 11 & 12 helps in giving you a head start in the economics courses at Uni. thanks much appreciated, my subjects are below.

I think it's accomplishable but you better be up for it because with so many things to learn, it will be hard to understand all the concepts especially since there is no one there to explain it to you. If you are dedicated on your studies i.e. you actually study 2h+ each weekday in year 10 then by all means go. If you took the route I did (play games every weekend and muck around during weekdays) I wouldn't recommend it come hsc time as all these concepts would come up before you could understand the previous one.

Then again I dont know much about what DE is offering. Good luck!

It does give you abit of a headstart at uni, but ive been told that after a number of the first lessons, you're pretty much at a level playing field with everyone else who didnt do eco because they go over the basics again.
