i think you do 3 cross religion studies...coz they're worth 20 marks each in the exam, and foundation studies are worth 10...so yeah, should be 3 f.s. and 3 c.r.

although, i make no guarantees and take no responsibility for any loss or injury:)

thanks huy!!

knew u would answer my question:D
from the cross religious studies, i think we are doing, ethics, sacred writtings/ stories and rituals (where would the rite of marriage come into it?) what about symbolism? coz we did that as a parallel to sacred writtings

"rite of marriage" would be under "religious ritual" in the cross religion studies.

for example,
in christianity, marriage (a rite of passage) is also a sacrament, the coming together of man/woman, symbolic of the union between Christ and His church, etc

"Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate" (Mark 10:6 to 9)
(i didnt make up 6 and 9... it's a real quote hehe look it up :))

under the bigger umbrella term "rites of passage"
e.g. at my school we did judaism vs christianity for the rite of marriage.

if you had done symbolism with sacred writings, then it would be under "sacred writings and stories"

e.g. studying the themes of:
suffering
love
death
fidelity
evil

(i think that's what you meant by 'symbolism')

then you'd have to be studying the sacred writings/stories of 2 religious traditions so you can compare/contrast them (the different ways of writing)

we did christianity and judaism aswell, when we studied sacred writings and symbolism in marriage too. (the symbolism as in of the ring and wat part of the religious tradition does that portray)

ok now here is wher i am confused,we study 2 religions (christianity and judaism) and explore into them thru 3 areas from:
religious ritual,
religion/ethics,
sacred writings/stories,
ways of holiness,
teachers/interpreters,
religion/women.
right?

well, i only do the 1U course for SOR (1U is only offered here at my school).

but yes, you would have to know 3 from all the above cross religion studies, in terms of christianity and judaism. how each one is similar/different over the 3 different areas such as ritual, ethics, and sacred writings/stories.

fortunately for me,
i have:

foundation study 1 (same for 1 and 2U SOR)
foundation study 2 (same for 1 and 2U SOR)
ISP (same for 1 and 2U SOR)

the only difference is the cross religion studies,
1U course studies 1 cross religion study,
(we're doing religious ritual)

but for you, the 2U candidate,
you'll be doing:

religion and ethics
sacred writings and stories
and religious rituals.

or any 3 from the 6 cross religious studies
(you dont do ways of holiness, teachers and interpreters and religion and women).

in summary:
1U: foundation studies 1+2, ISP and 1 cross religion study (with 2 religious traditions to 'cross reference', comparing and contrasting).

2U (you): foundation studies 1+2, ISP, and 3 cross religion studies, using 2 religious traditions (judaism and christianity) to compare/contrast between each religious study.

e.g. how is judaism and its wedding different to christianity's
etc.

yeah rahul the sor2 course is a bit complicating cause of having to choose two religions in the diff areas etc... and if u do women its even worse cause u have to choose i women for each religion for 2 diff time periods... very strange

how on earth am i supposed to write notes for re??? do u think it would be a bad idea to just study from the text book... its just hard because its a difficult subject to summarise and ill end up just copying most of the shit
