We have just been issued an assessment task which asks:
Outline the process of mummification in OKE.
I've got some notes from some History text book but not sufficient to fill 2 and half pages of the answer booklet which is what is needed!!
the teacher said it must be Old Kingdom and people giving answers about the New Kingdom will be penalised.
so in other words: HELP!

in OKE they had the stucco plaster mummies, defleshed bone mummies and simple linnen wrapped ones. there was def canoptic jars so i guess you can discuss the removal of the viscera and the natron treatments. masks only came in right at the end so prob dont talk about that. dont think they used any of the more advanced stuff like the hook to get the brain out through the nose or resin. also dont think they were picky about location of incisions or anything yet
thats all off the top of my head though. may be a good starting pont though. you can get a good half page each on the stucco and defleshed mummies easily.
