In the new kingdom, the ka is a kind of life force. It is a kind of spiritual energy that powers your body. Hence, you die when it leaves you.

The ba however, leaves you when you die, and is more along the lines of your soul. The ba is more important, as it lives forever, although the ka is needed to nourish you in the afterlife (it's the thing that comes back and eats the food and drinks the drink).

excellent answer rhapsody!!

Anthrax, if ur not going to contribute, then dont bother taking up space!

therefore, "ba" is what goes to the afterlife.
Wheres PwarYeux when u need him?? I think theres something about your social status being decided by your "ba" or "ka" although i suppose its not particularly important, if someone can clarify this please do!!

Once again, excellent rhapsody

Errrm .. I'm not so sure about ba, but I know what ka is ! @_@;

The ka is basically the soul, or a double, and was created at the same time as the body .

You can see a depiction of Tutankhamun's ka here . It's the 2nd or 3rd photograph, I think . O_O;

Anyway, I think the ka is closely related to death and the afterlife . Or maybe it was just in relation to Tutankhamun, but yeah .. xD

Wahaha, anywayy, I hope I helped somewhat . @___@;;

-- EDIT --

Wait, rhapsody11 said the opposite to what I did .. +0+;;
Yuck, if I'm wrong, I'm sorry ! >0<;;
