Don't discount the University of New England. Sure, it might be a country uni, but it's also one of the top universities in the state; it's ranked second or third. The UAI might be lower than metro universities, but I've only been at uni a month and can't remember my UAI. Once you're in, your UAI might as well be borscht.

And if you're doing a double degree, you'll need to decide the second half based on what you like. After all, we're not you and can't decide for you.
No sane, rational human being would choose UNE over USyd or UNSW.

Sometimes the most insane, irrational descisions are the best ones. Like the one where I don't cause you pain. It goes against all common sense, but in the end I'm better off for it, that sort of thing goes on criminal records. Similarly, UNE is better than NSW or Syd because A) Sydensiders are a bunch of arrogant wankers and B) you've actually got a higher chance of graduating with an HD average.
And your point?

Stop hijacking his thread.

From what I can tell, for law, in order from most awesome to least awesome you'd have:

-University of Sydney
-University of New South Wales
-Maquarie University
-University of Western Sydney

But then it depends on how much UAI you can get.

if it came down to the appeal of the student body then I would definitely chose a country uni over usyd. Forging symbiotic friendships in usyd law is wrought with the intolerable shmoozy alterior motives akin to dealing with used car salesmen.
Although it is amusing to observe the uncertain eye movements and poorly fabricated excuses some students can conjure when asked if their notes can be copied.
Uni should be everyone against the uni not every man for himself...if you get my gist

edit: I might consider paranoid note takers sane, but certainly not rational.

Look at your interests when deciding what other degree to undertake, once you decide it might limit your choices of where you study. For me my major was only offered at UWS which along with my UAI helped me make my decision. I chose my major and degree because it seemed to be the only one to match my interests.

If you have any questions about my degree or UWS I'll be happy to answer them. Good luck :)

This is a bit of an open question as there are many factors that influence individual decisions.

but for NSW & ACT:

first tier: USyd, UNSW
second tier: ANU, UTS, UOW
third tier: Maq, UWS, other unis

...from my uninformed perspective

in regard to the second issue: you should answer that yourself.

Yep I can see that based on the entrance uai, taking into account its distance from Sydney, ANU is regarded as a relatively prestigous law school.

eh...no

u see it because its recognised as one, not because of its uai cutoff.

??

uai cutoff is an indication of demand, which is surely linked with the level of the prestige of the degree. i think it's about as objective as an indicator for prestige can get.

No its because ANU is in Canberra while USyd and UNSW are in Sydney. The very location issue takes I'd say 4 uai points or so off.

How could Vahl3 ever hope to be a lawyer if he doesn't know the difference between 'doing law' and 'wanting to practice as a lawyer after completing a law degree'?

[comment]Oh wait, he's an unstable, unintelligent, lazy fag.[/comment]
you said you are not doing law after this semester.
Therefore you are not studying law as a degree in addition to your other degree.

how can PwarYuex call Vahl3 an unstable, unintelligent, lazy fag? Oh wait: it takes one to know one.
Incidently Pwar, I'm not lazy, nor unstable. Unlike you im not fat, and I have many interests APART from bos - ing

Pwar = Vahl3 wannabe :)

Incidently (guy who started thread) - I don't think you will get into law anywhere on the east coast with these subjects:

Legal Studies, Modern History, Chemistry, General Mathematics, Advanced English

my advice is to become a Catholic, and apply for UND - Sydney or Perth

Please learn to read. Just to clarify.

THIS SEMESTER: DOING LAW AS MY DEGREE.
NEXT SEMESTER: DROPPING LAW DEGREE.

Clear enough for you?
I'm sorry, dear, but remember that you need EAS and all that, because of your 'social problems' which lead to academic disadvantages. You don't get any concessions here.

Yet again, you look like such an idiot and have hijacked another thread to have a go at me. Next? :)

Errr wrong. It's possible to obtain a high enough uai with the above subjects.

There is also something called full-fee that North Shore residents love.
