WindUpdates...pls help (1 Viewer)

I just scanned with Bazooka and it detected WindUpdates..so i clicked on the link to tell me how to fix it. The site i was taken to said to use add/remove programs in theh control panel but its not listed there. SO then it tells me to start in safe-mode, run something and delete a list of stuff...but i have no idea what im doing

I read another thread similar, but i still dont know what to do really

Please help...thanks

Ok, first things first - download and install Adaware. Do a scan, remove anything it finds.

Second step - Reboot

Third step - Download HijackThis, do a scan (and save log), and paste your log here for us to look at.

Then we'll go from there

\edit\ You already posted a clean HijackThis log here. If that's a log that was made after this windupdates issue, then don't bother with another scan.

Thanks...um ive already got adaware, and thats the thing, i did scans with all of them (ie spybot, spywareblaster, adaware, bazooka) and bazooka was the only one that detected it. Yeah that log is from after the adware was detected.

I found one folder by going thru windows explorer and deleted it, but there are other folders in there that i dont recognise..CyberLink with subfolder Common and something in there about update, MS Active Sync, Xerox and ComPlus.

yup. But i actually realised, i usually do smart system scan cos the full one takes too long. So perhaps thats why it missed. That doesnt explain, though, why none of the others picked it up. Im currently running the full scan with adaware and also Norman, so we'll see...

AdAware detects windupdates as well...do you think I should delete that as well?
