Don't let any salespeople talk you into the 108mbps (megabits per second) wireless.. all you need is 54mbps unless you're going to do some heavy LANing: you should be able to share a couple of cable connections over a 54mbps wireless connection, so you've got no worries regarding speed. That instantly saves you $50, which might be 25% of the cost for something you don't need.
At Dick Smith you can get D-link products.. wireless router = $129ish, wireless cards $70 (both for a laptop or desktop).
However, here in Sydney, anyway, there's a place called Computer Target that sells the same stuff and more (I would not recommend d-link products after the experiences I've had with several of their models) for cheaper. Look around at some of the smaller computer stores and you'll get the same thing for less...
