WMP9 Oddity. (1 Viewer)

When playing a .wmv file (or whatever) in Windows Media Player 9, its hiccups in about the last fifth of the movie length - meaning, in the last fifth of the total time the 'movie' part of the video will "black out" (i.e. no visuals) and the music will keep playing (I define it as a 'fifth' because it changes for the length of the clip - but always in the last 'fifth' of the clip). Very annoying - is this a common error, and is there a patch for it?

use a better, less bloated player....

ie: Windows media player classic

no this isn't the one that comes with windows, it is a much more powerful package in under 1mb

Is it on all movies? (I assume so but it's worth asking!)

How much RAM do you have? Are you buffering all of it? Streaming or playing from your HD?

I'm playing direct from my hard drive - not sure how much RAM I have, but it's...quite a lot.

Re-installing is so very irritating, lol.

I'm hesitant to replace WMP 9 with WMP Classic for the simple reason that it is inferior to WMP 9 - i'll see what else I can do before resorting to that option. Thanks anyway

Inferior? The fact that WMP classic can play Quicktime and Real files and is much less bloaty is already good enough reason to use it...

Try updating your codecs.

WMP Classic can do anything crappy WMP 9 can but MORE!

also it doesn't replace wmp 9 already on your computer....it is a single file, no installation required, runs straight from the zip file

i use just da plain old v6.4, works fine and far betta dan wmp9 on resource usage...

anything is better than wmp9

yeh i used to use 6.4 before i found winMedia player classic

now i don't even have to install quicktime or realplayer
