Hey forum.
I come seeking advice in regards to B Commerce at Macquarie uni.
I would love any replies/comments about this course.

What are the lecturers and tutes like?

Does this course have a good reputation?

Did/do you find the location inconvenient? (As opposed to UNSW, USYD and UTS which are closer to the centre of Sydney)

Did/do you find the course enjoyable?

No. but doesnt have a bad rep either.

They now have a train line, but it would be more inconvenient for a lot of people.

Good selection of majors

No

Reputation is not a big thing. but there will be a reasonable proportion of people that reckon: UNSW > UTS/UMAQ
another reasonable amount of people that reckon: UNSW = UTS = UMAQ
and nobody that reckons: UMAQ> UNSW > UTS

that being said, reputation doesnt really matter if you just plan on doing undergraduate study locally, and finding an ok job locally, and just whatever, but if you choose to go on exchange, continue with honours/postgraduate studies, "reputation" would open up more doors.

my POV is definitely biased, but its just my perception.

Something to think about, nobody goes out of their way to attend macquarie, lots of people go out of their way to attend UNSW. This has gone on for many years now. What does this imply?

^ Wait you don't even go to Macq? Or you go to Macq. but wished you went to UTS or UNSW?

Either way OP disregard hungwell1337's post none of it is any helpful or informative. luketfox basically nailed it. Also to what you stated about nobody going out of their way to attend Macquarie, that is a pretty stupid thing to say.

Another thing to think about is the atmosphere at Macq., everyone is friendly and helpful and it feels really welcoming being there

Luketfox is pretty much on the money. I'm doing accounting and soon finance at MQ rather than marketing, otherwise my answer would be almost identical.

I'm a B Comm student and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mac to any student wanting to do a degree in business/commerce/economics etc.

What are the lecturers and tutes like? - There will be variation, some you will really like, others not so much. In general, the classes and structure of the units are well structured and the marking/feedback etc is quick and efficient.

Does this course have a good reputation? Yes, in general our Faculty has a good reputation, which area are you looking at particular?

Did/do you find the location inconvenient? (As opposed to UNSW, USYD and UTS which are closer to the centre of Sydney) - Well, it will take me a long time to get to any university, Macquarie included - it used to take me two hours to get to uni, but once you learn how to use your commuting time well, it's actually a great study time.

Did/do you find the course enjoyable? Very, personally I've met some great friends, participated in a range of activities and in general had a very memorable time at uni.

How did you find the workload? It was less than I expected, but in commerce -there is a correlation between how much effort you put in and the marks that you get. Having said that, I don't think high marks are out of reach.

What majors did you choose and did you enjoy them? Marketing - I enjoyed it a lot. Wished they offered the new Marketing and Media degree when I started though.

Would you recommend this course over UNSW or UTS? I chose Macquarie because it had what I wanted in a university; great campus, support services, internship/job/industry links, general friendly atmosphere. If these are things that you are looking for, then yes, I would recommend Mac over the others.

This. Though it takes me about 1.5 hrs but still quite long nonetheless.
