TER = UAI for Western Australia, basically the same thing.

I'm looking to do uni in melbourne, lets say i get a 80 average in my subjects:

UAI = 90.9
TEE = 98.0

I'm doing some of the hardest scalled subjects, am i doing it wrong or is it easier to get higher marks in UAI (I see alot of 95+ averages :l.)

You kinda contradicted your own statistics by saying UAI is easier to get =\

Well i'm saying it looks easier to get (for example) a 95 in Advanced maths then a 95 in Calculus.

Probally just better Highschools

Studentleader,

I am from Perth as well, and understand exactly what you are trying to say.

However, the TER and UAI are both ranks. They take into account only the students who study the same syllabus. It doesn't matter what you get in Calculus compared to someone else who did 4U Math, as you won't be ranked together.

You are looking to get into Uni of Melb. So, say you get a TER of 95. You will be regarded the same as someone who gets a UAI of 95, as someone who gets a VCE rank of 95. It doesn't matter what individual subjects you did, its the rank you have among your own state.

The only time where this wouldn't apply would be in the ridiculous circumstance that a cut-off in NSW rose to 100. Therefore you wouldn't be eligible as the max TER that a WA student can achieve is 99.95. However, I doubt that this would happen.

I assure you, that in your case, the system would be fair.
