Question re: subbject selection form
I'm doing Arts/Law and I want to know if there is any difference between a 6 unit course and a 6 unit course major (or whatever they are called)
I want to do political science and history, but I don't if my course will be structured differently depending on what I choose as 'course major'

Cheers

From what I understand it is possible to do two majors in the arts part of arts/law. The way to do it being to select the units corresponding to the major. eg you would put down something like introduction to politics and a first year history course as your two arts courses in the 1st semester.

It is only written like that as many students choose to study only one major (or two in a BA) and just pick from anywhere and everywhere as they fancyt to make up the other units. Personally I think it is a good idea to do two majors as it makes you more specialised and desirable to an employer.

Ahh, that makes sense. If only I had have listened at PEA day, or read the handbook, but no need now. Thanks

Ein bisschen. I did it until year 11, then my school axed it, we were dumped onto correspondence. Needless to say, learning a language by correspondence is a futile exercise and my buddy and I ditched it.

Makes sense as I'm guessing you have to know a fair bit about law when completing a law degree. And also I have no idea what type of field to focus in, I'm assuming it will come to me though

Is anyone seriously thinking about ditching arts if the workload's too much?

3 months isn't long but you pick up a lot of the language. I remember in 2001 I went to Hungary for a month and I learnt a lot. Of course that's mostly forgotten now but that's what happens when you don't get to practice :(

I'm doing two majors as well. French and International Relations. i think it means you can only do two random courses, but that doesn't bother me. And there's no way i'd drop the arts part
-primarily because going to full law is the same contact hours (about 16, four classes a semester), but they're all law, therefore potentiall more difficult. not that our arts halves will be easy, but maybe less challenging.
-then there's the keeping sane part as gem said!! i'm easily looking forward to my arts subjects as much as my law-maybe more so.
