lucky us..our teacher crossed that out for us and the pH one as well...

I talked about short half lives,
The question asked why aren't there large amounts of these new elements or something about how they can't be isolated.
So I went on about the short half lives, how they undergo decay and transmutate into different elements which is why you never see "Element 118" (for example) for long periods of time.
Issues of containment
Issues of continual acceleration of particles (why they can't keep it up)
things like that.
test was better than I expercted. For both of the CO2 calculate the volume of gas ones...I did them, but we had a data sheet from last year so it had old values so I had a bitch about it on the test paper..I finished so early. Under the page where it says blank page...I put "ok"

my teacher told me it was a straight off acid-base reaction... the pH is lowered > acidic

i said the H3O+ ions were reduced due to the equilibrium reaction thus pH goes higher.
because from the first eqn it was a one way reaction that produced HSO3

Hmm for the Metabisulphate in wine one?
The top line was a reaction that went to completion, with water being a reactant
And the 2nd line an equilibirum reaction with hydronium as a reactant and water as a product.
When the MBS was added, it took out water from the system, which pushes the 2nd reaction (equilibirum) to the right, as product is being removed, and therefor reducing the amount of hydronium in the solution (thus reducing acidity, and raising pH?)
Basically I just wrote a whole lot of BS about it being an equilibirum reaction, no idea if it was correct or not..

btw how did you guys calculate the ethnaol question from the multiple cohice ?

i found out the moles, and then times it by the 1380kj/mol
i found the exam alright....
what did people put down for the wine...it was a buffer as it formed different products and the ion was invovled in the second reaction. i put down it increased the pH.
O.62L in the muliple chocie is right. it's to do with limiting regants.
what did people get for the industrial chemistry equil qns i got 0.73????
for the ethanol heat of combustion you had to divide the 1360 by the number of mols.

you find the pH with a pH meter pretty logical.

what did you guys put down for that pH meter question? about procedures involved?
our teacher only told us to write down calibrated the pH meter and that's it, i only vaguely remember that she dip it into some solutions to balance the pH but hell, as if i can remember the exact steps.
