I remember when i was in England, i downed (with 1 mate) 1 + 1/2 bottles of Sambuka (*Sp) mixed with WKD (a type of mixer - vodka mixed with some blue fizzy). Had such a bad hangover the next day, not to mention got a MASSIVELY nasty cramp in my left thigh, lasted for weeks!

Hah, you're a pain in the arse graney. Granted, czech absinthe is typically of the boho style, but it was certainly better than the watered down rubbish that mostly gets imported here.
What is your source that says absolutely no one out there is making authentically distilled absinthe, using distilled oils, fennel, anise, wormwood etc?
