so i dropped a brand new motorola v9 in a pool DAMMIT.
Dried it out, and turned it back on..

so it turns on, but no buttons (except the on/off/hangup button) work.

then i turned it back off, and on and then all buttons worked, then stopped working again..

can receive texts, calls, mic & speakers work fine.. it will charge fine, gets fine reception etc, screen is fine..

Just wondering if all i need is a new thing that goes under the keypad?

or ifi need a whole new phone!?

ANYONE KNOW??
cheers

You can try and get it check out by most of the phone repair store. They might able to fix it on spot or change the keypad.

yeah i was thinking that..
obviously warranty is void cause it got wet..
but considering everthing else is working, and the keypad works occasionally,do u think it may be fixable??

just wondering whether there is any hope..

What you can do is take the cover off (if able to since i dont know the model and i dont have one) and let it out to dry. It might be residual water under the keypad beng moved about when ou press buttons, shorting the circuits or conducting th signal.

oh ok, good idea!
i just need to get a little hex screwdriver...

so pretty much if everything but the keypad works, its probably fixable???

recommend you dry it very thoroughly..

i did that .. take out the battery and just leave it for a week :(

in a warm dry room.... usually... that can fix it :) .......otherwise open it up and dry it... repairs can be anything up to lik $150-200 :S its ridiculous..

if you are handy with electronics.. you can open it and dry it ........ not very safe..

use a very LOW dry heat... like a hairdryer. and that can help ......

ultimately this can be dangerous.. since the phone is kinda working..

i did this on a K610i.. then i reflashed it .. and it is working mostly now.... it went into a sink... full of adelaide water :\ (note: hard water... i.e lots of MG2+ and other ions)..

post a photo of the screws.. could be a T6 or T10.. rather than hex like an allan key

the screen is fine..

i used a hairdryer when it first got wet... :)

might get a smart asian to look at it, they are the best phone repairers out there..

ps, forgve my ignorance, but reflashed is what exactly???

hahaha

find a smart one that has taken apart phones before..... i only know 1 of them...

other option is... zip lock bag with lots of facial tissues in it... and leeave it in a warm area (not in direct sunlight tho.. or you might F**K it more) ... then it will dry out... avoid powders or you might short it out..

truth me told not too bad..

i brought mine to the beach.. and the water indicator is now activated... didnt even throw it in the water :S

well i dunno that it might work...

because if u messed up the keyboard controller on the muthaboard.. then it wont help.. but by the sounds of it... it might i reckon its lik 70% to work

otherwise.. MobileCiti Online and get a job.. lol

oh i bought a new z750i and that was just a lil moist.. from the humidity of my pocket at the beach.. the water indicator is what tells the person at the shop that its water affected... its a lil red tab in the sony ericssons.. usually behind the battery

auto warranty voider... there are usually 2 water indicators for reference.... *technically* if they are still ok (usually white) then u can claim warranty..

My sister dropped hers down the toilet -.- LOL.
And they won't even touch it, even if you want a new one through insurance etc, they send a replacement and won't even try touching it.

You could just make sure it's all dry, and say that it "just stopped working" and if they start going on about water crap, then say it is the phone that stuffed up.... heck, sometimes they give pushy customers whatever they want :D. The customer is always right... right?
