One problem I see; Do you really think that people who get dogs based on their degree of "viciousness" are going to take courses on how to handle their dogs? In most cases, I'd argue that they're complete idiots anyway.

The issue with the little girl who got attacked, was that these mixed breed dogs had been treated as children, doted and adored, and probably not abused. Why you'd allow a mixed breed into a house with toddlers, idk, but I assume they felt threatened by the children who had taken their attention/trespassed in their house, and thus attacked. So it's not always mistreatment that causes the problem - but again, I'd be interested to see whether people like this would take dog management courses.

I don't inherently have a problem with mixed breeds (though I'd never personally own one). What I do have a problem with is dogs who think they're the boss being let into a house with toddlers - I more think the problem was that they were trying to assert dominance as the alphas on these kids, and went too far.

I wouldn't trust a mixed breed as far as I could kick one. They're quite popular out here, being rural and everybody having a fascination with hunting critters. But from my experience, I have never met a mixed breed pig/mastiff/bulldog that I have trusted - they give me the creeps and it scares me when people say 'lolz nah it's so cute id trust me kids with it'. Bull shit man, I don't trust my foxy and jack russell with my two year old, why would you be complacent with a dog that weighs 30+ kg.

Lol that's what gets me. People trust huge dogs unsupervised around children - I have witnessed more toddlers knocked over by their boisterous 30kg+ labs than any other dog.

But yeah, as much as I defend the pures, I would not trust a mixed bulldog/pig dog any more than I'd trust a wolf hybrid.

I guess people make the mistake of thinking the nicer they are to their dog the better a pet it's going to be.

In reality it'd be like having a kid and over-indulging it, letting it do whatever it wants, etc.

In both cases you're going to end up with problems if/when something threatens that princess status = kids throw tantrums, dogs bite your face off, same thing really

Dunno whether those people would think they needed any education. They probably think that because the dog loves them (because it can do whatever the hell it wants) that it wouldn't disobey them or would not cause a problem ever, and it probably wouldn't for them, but they better hope noone else ever tries to discipline it.

A trend that I find with people who own big pitbulls, mastiffs and other aggressive dogs, is that all the people who own these dogs seem to be trashy, noisy, indecent, dole bludgers, cretins and bogans.

FFS I hate tards. Of course there might be some, who for whatever reason, want a shit dog. WTF anyway, you just said "dumb enough", so you're agreeing with the generalisation that only dumb shits get unpredictable mixed mongrel breeds.

Lots of these breeds are pretty unique to Australia. In the sense that they are used for hunting a lot more and stuff. Pretty sure coursing is illegal though? Anyway iv seen lots of these dogs and they are fucking scary. I will never go near a mastif/pitbull/rotty/staffie/german shepard/staghound/cattle dog/labrador unless the owner introduces me to it. Yeah labradors are just a aggressive as any of those other breeds. They were bred purely to hunt water birds etc. Just like spaniels etc. Having kids around any of those breeds is fucking retarded and i have no respect for anyone who does so. Mastifs etc arent really any more aggressive unless trained to be (usually by fucking dumb cunt druggos who like to hunt pigs). These dogs if they do decide to bite are so strong you're fucked. If a kelpie has a go at you, you can kick it in the guts, but if a 80kg american mastiff X staghound has a go it could propably fit your head in its mouth.

That said my mate has a 6 month old american mastiff bitch that is the biggest sook ever. I carried it 200m and put it infront (<5m away) of a 2ft tall wallabie and it proceeded to roll in the grass and eat bugs. I still would never trust it with children and when its older its not going anywhere near strangers. lol unless they are coons.

Having just read the entire thread, I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment about faggot owners. The very first time I took my dog to the park as a puppy a bulldog off a leash ran straight at it, had to lift my dog in the air to keep it away. When the owner caught up he was all like "nah he's not agro at all he wouldn't hurt a fly".

At the end of the day though I have no problems with em if they're trained right, and know their place.

QFT. I don't have a problem with the dog, usually, because it's their owners that cause bad behaviour.
