I've downloaded gigabytes of ubuntu patches through uniwide. Theres no arbitrary limit...but if you're downloading something like 10GB/day then obviously eyebrows will be raised

never download torrents at uni, uploads are the way to go if u desperatley need to dl something

because with p2p programs u connect to heaps of peers who upload parts of data to u, i think.

the folks at IT can easily see when theres a hundred or so connections going to a room in some place.

just dont doet.

seriously just plug ur laptop into a ethernet port, pray that its activated and bam. unrestricted internets

I am yet to find any spare ethernet port thats activated. whats happens if i pull one of the ethernet cables out from the computers and plug in mine?

yeah where were u when u got that dl speed?

most ive gotten is 2.5MBps, lvl 9 library semester 2 last year, but i havnt got near that speed lately, i used to get at least 600kbps, average of 900, sometimes 1500, and 2500 was the fastest ever, but now i only get like 450kbps max

it can be dependent on how many people are on the network in that area at the time.

that would work, depends on what u do, if u unplug it and just browse with ur laptop (kinda pointless) they wont pick up on it, a spike in downloads might ask questions

the net at uni is insanely fast yeah, usyd/unsw + other major unis share the same backbone which afaik is optus's network
