Subject Information on Swine Influenza outbreak

Dear Students

The University is putting measures in place to ensure we are prepared for a Swine Influenza outbreak in Australia if it occurs.

We have established an information site which can be accessed directly from the University's homepage. This site, which includes links to relevant external sites as well as University specific advice, will be updated as fresh information comes to hand.

If you have any questions, please contact the Risk Management Unit on 4921 5328.

i think it's less that the situation is overhyped and more that nobody is getting a clear picture of what is happening so the media, the government and public are just panicking about it all.
That...

...and people like fear/controversy.

antibiotics are only useful for bacteria.

antivirals, as the name suggests, work on viruses but there are already antivirals for Influenza A. The government has a stockpile of something like 9 million doses of Tamiflu etc in the case of pandemic.
So obviously she didnt mean antivirals.

She must have meant vaccine. There's no vaccine as yet, but a vaccine is a preventative measure, not a treatment like antibiotics/antivirals so for a health minister she should lurn 2 medicine.

also lol at nicola roxin for saying that there "are no antibiotics available yet"

it's a freakin virus you nong. of course there's no antibiotics.
but the majority of people dont know that antiobiotics only kill bacteria

therefore they are probably jsut doing to bring out a drug to raise people morale

haha he spent most of the time tuning his guitar

and his socks were red thats all i bothered with him

everybody knows that 'antibiotics' refers to bacteria.
a lot of people ask for antiobiotics when they go to the doctors even though they have a virus

results in overuse of antiobiotics which has given bacteria immunity
