Electrodes - Anodes and Cathodes (1 Viewer)

im a bit confused about something... why is it that in chemistry we call the anode of a battery (galvanic cell) the negative end and in physics the cathode is the negative end of a discharge tube...?

in a power-consuming device, the anode is positive, and in a power-releasing device, the anode is negative..
