ah okhis idea is fine, just let a approach pi instead:
S[0 -> 2pi] 1/[2 + cos(x)] dx
= 2 * S[0 -> pi] 1/[2 + cos(x)] dx (even about pi)
= 2 * lim[a -> pi] S[0 -> a] 1/[2 + cos(x)] dx
= 2*(pi/sqrt3)
