There are definite tricks for the Exam trade that will be benefit your results.

They depend on the type of Exam question
  • Multiple choice
  • true -false
  • short answer
  • matching answers
  • filling in the gap
  • essays
Following are some strategies for each type.

Multiple choice
  • eliminate obviously incorrect answers
  • read all the choices
  • read the question carefully
  • often the longest answer is the correct one
  • be careful not to overlook details
  • guess if you don't know
True-False
  • be aware of the wording. Words such as 'always' and 'none' change the answer from wording like 'often' and 'some'
  • for something to be true all of it must be; read it carefully
  • guess the answer if you don't know, its 50/50
Short answer
  • be to the point and concise
  • avoid over answering the question
  • if unsure, use point form to record all the facts you know about the area in question
Matching answers
  • always read all the answers column first to be aware of the possible answers
  • be aware that some answers may be 'more right' than others; don't rush
  • eliminate answers that you believe are wrong
  • select the most appropriate from the remaining answers
  • guess if you don't know.
Filing in the gap
  • read and re- read the question serval times
  • if you studied using repetition the answer may be prompt yoy
  • look carefully at the wording.> a verb will signify whether the answer is singular or plural.> if the letter before is an 'a' then the answer begins with a consonant> if the word before is an'an' then the answer must begin with a vowel
  • if unsure recite the material to yourself, it may spark an idea
Essay
  • carefully plan your time
  • do an outline of key facts and ideas, which in point form will organise your thoughts in a logical sequence
  • understand exactly whay you are being asked to do
  • be aware of exam jargon and terminology
  • always use sentences
  • tie you thoughts together with linking phrasing such as 'on account of this'
  • don't be verbose; be concise and to the point
  • open the essay be restating the question in the first sentence
  • always include ideas and points that your teacher has stressed/emphasized in class
  • always include a logical conclusion reiterating key points
  • write legibly, neatly and leave adequate margins
Ensure that you ask your teachers
  • the types of questions on the exam
  • about doing past papers

You don't answer anything. You leave the page blank. This, my friend, is the manner through which you gain 50% of the marks. Good luck, Standard English people.
