I use this crap orange book... Jones and Couchman. It's... horrible. Horrendous.

First off I thought it was great, until my teacher gave us the 3 unit textbook (Fitzpatrick) and then I'm like "Is that it for this year AND next year?" And then he nods. Then I wave my 500 page J+C book and go "Then why do we have 500 pages for just three terms of work?!?!?!"
J + C is good for starters I guess.. but then it's so old, unappealing and the explanations suck balls. All textbooks have pros and cons, lol. I use Fitzpatrick, Coroneos, Jones and Couchman, and Cambridge. Excel is pretty bad, lol.

OMG guess what people? 3u and 2u cambridge are now sold separately, at the same price as well. What a freaking rip off!!! GRR so angry! I shouldve bought 3u cambridge year 12 last year!

lol but then that means that people that are doing 3u maths need to spend $100 + to get the 2u cambridge and 3u cambridge version of the book... and some may need to spend over $200 to get both the year 11 and year 12 versions. haha sucked!

Excel aren't supposed to be textbooks, they are supposed to be study aids I think.

So this Cambridge thing sounds very good... I might get one of those textbooks. From places like Dymocks, right?

I got the 3U cambridge and it didnt really help at all + its pretty expensive ($60 at dymocks IIRC)

here is the range of difficulty in the cambridge book on a helpful scale of 1-10, 10 being most difficult

most of the questions are moderate but those extension questions are absurdly difficulty and beyond anything you'll encounter in the HSC and it lacks those middle tier q's IMO. Although i did find out about the monty hall problem from the book which is rather interesting

I suppose for 4 unit Cambridge would be best, from what I've seen here - although I have to wait until I find what my teacher has gotten for us. Apparently he himself will purchase the books...

Although insanely hard questions can only be good. Although my teacher has a tendency to go "That's an absurdity" and tell us to skip the question.

There are only a few MX2 textbooks out there:
Cambridge
Fitzpatrick
patel
Terry Lee.

So your teacher has to pick out of these 4. For 4 unit, I think cambridge is the best but that's just my opinion. Fitzpatrick questions are easier, so I think for starters, Fitzpatrick is quite good too. =)

Well, whatever the textbook - it's going to be a very fun subject to do... I expect page after page of scribbled out work.

The only quarrel I have with that is no sciences or maths - but that's just my personal preference =P
