Okay, this is from memory, so bear with me if the information is slightly wrong.

The UN is established to prevent war and to ensure the well being and freedoms of all people. Australia was apart of the UN in 24th October 1945.
Dr H.V Evatt (Australian) was the attorney general and minister for external affairs in the Chifley government. He helped write the UN Charter in 1948 and 1949 and was the first president of the UN general assembly.

Peace keeping missions Australia has been involved in:
- overseeing free elections in cambodia in 1993
- sending food aid to war torn somalia in 1994
- free east timorese people from indonesian backed militia gangs.

Military involvement Australia has been involved in as part of the UN:
- Korean war ( 1950-1953)
-The Gulf War (1991)
-The War on Terror (iraq war 2001)

Posts Australia has held in the UN:
- International Court of Justice
- UN Commission on Human Rights
- UN Commission on the status of women.

UNESCO- United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation
As well as providing education and technology to needy areas in developing countries, it also aims to preserve natural and cultural heritage sites.

Other agreements Australia has been involved in:
- ANZUS 1951
- SEATO 1955
- APEC 1989
- COLOMBO 1951
