Knowing my luck... it will prob fall straight into one of their merciless hands.yeh, well then i guess we all gotta hope to God that we dont get one of those markers
yeh mate i kno what you mean, and in that case i reckon no amount of titles or pretty colouring will save usKnowing my luck... it will prob fall straight into one of their merciless hands.
I am 100% certain that a title will make no difference to the final mark. The majority (i reckon vast majority) of the state will not have bothered with a title. The markers are not going to say "oh yes this story is excellent, but it doesnt have a title, so i cant give it full marks." A three word title at the start may be useful in creating a positive first impression on the marker, but by the end of the story the title (or lack there of) is going to have no bearing on the final mark given. Its not about "understanding the conventions of a short story" or "control of language," in that respect the abscence of a title is no worse than a few spelling mistakes. Have a look at both the standards packages and the marking comments from previous years, not one mentions the abscence of a title. As one of the posters said above, this is Extension 1, there really isn't any excuse for not understanding the conventions of a short story i.e. TITLE. 99% of short stories have titles, and the ones that don't generally don't for a specific purpose. So if you're doing anything apart from textual dynamics, that 'Genre' of 'Way of Thinking' or whatever prooooobably involves titles in their texts. So when the rubric says control of language to express whatever, it might include title.
Absolutely, its rare (because a lot of the time the title is just a summation of the story), but it can definitely be a positive influence on the storyOk, maybe you're right. But yeah, a good title can give your story a deeper meaning.
