Absolutely no idea.

a) Have no idea how many places they're going to give for it,
b) have no idea how much the huge increase / change in marketing at Macquarie will affect preferences.

If I had to guess, I'd say 85, but that would be a pure guess. I'd be surprised if it were over 90, although I'd be very happy.

Would anticipate approximately 85 also. Commerce and Arts seems a strange mix from my perspective. In my (in all likelihood flawed) way of thinking, Arts students aren't interest in the commerce side of university and commerce students aren't interested in the arts side of university. I am interested to see how popular it will be.

In my experience, that's an unfortunately Macquarian view of things. Commerce and arts is a popular combination at other universities, and justly so.

I did say it was quite probably flawed.

Although my (almost completed) degrees are in writing (media) and (comm) marketing, so I guess it would be hypocritical of me to say commerce and arts cannot mix.

Um... Why would he want to do Engineering / Business at UTS if he was asking about Commerce / Arts at Macquarie?

Do you ever think when you post?

because i dont have 95 atar for comm/law. therefore hopefully i can transfer. i havent looked into it. but its possible? lol
Honestly, just ignore her. She's a pathological idiot, essentially.

If you're looking to do Comm/Law I would recommend either going into a plain BA or BCom. Do whichever you think you'll get the best marks in (so as to increase your transfer chances), and then apply to transfer into BCom LLB.

1st off haha :p

and 2nd, would it be easier to do one degree and transfer to a double, than to do double degree and transfer? btw my atar was 81.05 - pretty crap. but hopefully + 4 bonus points i can get into atleast a single degree of commerce.

thanks dude

AFAIK, it won't matter whether your in a single degree or a double, its more about the marks that you get in each unit that you study. So already being in a double degree isn't going to make your chances of a transfer to com/llb any better.

for law i have a feeling (though can't be positive) that you would need at least a high credit or distinction average to transfer into it... though I cant be 100% sure as Ive never really looked at it, i just seem to remember someone saying that they got rejected from transferring into law, despite having an average of 70ish...

UAI: 91
first year grades - 5 Distinctions and 3 Credits (ECON110, 111,141, ACCG 100 and 101, STAT170, ISYS123, ACST101)

I successfully transferred.

I have heard students with lower UAI and grades get in.

Why? I was srsly considering arts/comm or eco/arts at UNSW... but 5 years is a stretch for me. Arts is a mad degree when you look into it man.. can learn alot of things which can shape and change your outlook on the world.
