How is that a crappy ATAR?
Like, yeah, loads of people on this forum got 90+ but 83.10 isn't exactly "crap". It's a pretty damn good result to be honest.

What is the ATAR required for the other nursing courses?
All the nursing courses are like at 70s range.....but its because nursing was my 5th preference...i really wanted to get into oral health but i couldn't sooo...somehow I want to get into Usyd..

My mum just finished her nursing degree at UNCLE, and really, no one cares what uni you go to for nursing, maybe if you do postgrad studies, but not for a Bachelor of Nursing. I think the main difference is the calliber of the students you will be studying with, and the quality of the teaching there. If you really don't want to go to ACU then I guess find another way in, apparently UTS is really good for nursing. Remember, you still have to actually get the grades to get into nursing at another uni if you transfer or do a diploma.

Good luck with it all, glad to see someone really enthusiastic about nursing =)
Hey..thanks for ur post.....congratulations to your mum...ofcourse I would be interested in nursing...well c'mon it may not sound as good as doing medicine...but u r helping ppl..thats what I love the most about it...

That UAI would get u into nursing at UTS, which is the most renowned nursing course in NSW as it has over 90% rate of having employment once completion of uni. I can vouch for this as i have just finished and compared to many other unis, uts is great and has a good course. It also has very good fundamentals in pathophysiology etc which would help with a transfer to another course, as it was give u a good starting base.

Sachu, nursing is actually not a bad degree, my sis had a very low enter when she finish her yr12 back in 2003 (in the 60s) and she decide that she do nursing at RMIT which is in melbourne. I have to admit, she did not regret her decision at all b/c so far now she the one in the family that earn the most excluding overtime or nightshift. Trust the benefits are realli there, she got a job straight away at one of the major hospital in melbourne (Monash medical center) and they even provide free studies in expertise areas + the training. She also gets to boss the docs around (these are only the interns and the residents only... not the registrar or consultants hehe).

It realli doesn't matter which uni u come out from especially in health areas...... everyone will end of in a job as long as there's demand for it which in this case nursing is one of the most jobs that is in demand. That's the reason why government put in the most contribution ($$$) in nursing compared to other courses. There are many specialize areas u can get into and one of the reason ones would be nurse practitioner although that would take some more studying and training in later career but it's almost like doctors (well not the specialise ones)

As for the fact that you plan to study bachelor of medical science or science .... trust me it's quite boring because you're expect to do labs which is the reason why i decided not to pursue a career after i finish my science degree and the fact that there's a chance where u may not be able to transfer and end up being a science graduate (touch wood).

If u ask me, i would suggest that go into nursing first and you coul;d practically get into any nursing course at any uni with ur ATAR, then if u dun like it , apply to transfer into other courses like oral health etc. But if u were not able to trasnfer in the future at least u will end up in a respectable field with good income and employment..... and u'll prob end up enjoying nursing as they deal more with disease and drugs.

I'm speaking this from personal experience as i did not do that well in high school as well (i got 78.5 enter which is similar to ATAR in melbourne), and i dun have a lot of choices which is why i did science at monash and ending up finishing it. However i got so scared that i wouldn't achieve anything in life because i don't want be a researcher and which means i have to do PHD. Both my younger sis were well ahead in life.... one is in nursing and the other is doing dietetics. So i end up taking radiography which i did not regret b/c it has good employment opportunities as well but obviously not as good as nursing in terms of demands. But if i can turn back the clock would have done nursing with my ENTER (back in my days nursing is meant for girls especially for asians!!) and prob do radiography after that (only if nursing doesn't suit me).

BTW ur ATAR is pretty high...... initially i thought u were in the range of 60s-70s from the way u post. LOL.

That's the beauty of puting your words in writing. You're easy to catch out lying.

First you said your ATAR was
So low that I'm too embarassed....
Then you wanted to be so selective about where you study and we said you were being too picky.

Then you quoted everyone that called you picky and said to them
btw my ATAR was 83.10 you all..
Well if you ATAR is really 83.10 Then why did you say this

When the entry requirement for BA Medical Science is 72.60

You lied.

You might want to look at the UAC book again and see what the ATAR requirement for med science is at USYD..mate it's not 72.60...u might want to think again before accusing anyone of lying..

The reason I feel crap about my ATAR is bcuz I got the lowest at my school while rest of my mate got..above 92 if u understand...

Lying may work for you in the real world. But in here, it's all in the writing. Look closely and you'll see where you came undone. Stop digging a hole for youself and learn from your mistakes. Step up your game. Peace.

I came to this place...to get suggestions from people because I care about my career...not for this stupid nonsense....

Focus on yourself and don't waste time in stupid business.....if u don't like my comments/post...don't look at it/ don't comment.....If you have any positive input..share it...I will take it gracefully..if not..bugger off

I've had enough of this so I'm closing the thread.

Obviously Sachu you have a good enough ATAR to do nursing, dental nursing, medical science or whatever you beat 83.1% of the state irrespective of how others went at your school, look at the big picture. You can get a high GPA in any degree that you would enjoy doing and transfer to Usyd's combined BA/Masters of Nursing, etc courses. I suggest you look them up yourself instead of asking and inciting others on this forum when you could quite easily google these questions.
