but yeah it will be interesting to listen to it this year

theres a whole bunch of songs that are pretty much on par with each other, no real obvious song that is going to win

Kasabian really only had two good songs this year, fire and Vlad and compared to the others songs released this year imo weren't as wrong

my guess from what i've seen voted here a lot is Animal Collective- My Girls, Blakroc- Ain't Nothing Like You, Bat For LAshes- Daniels, and mumford

Yeah, but everyone here is trying to out-indie each other in a bizarre music fashion contest. My money for top spots is on the more mainstream hits which were on commercial radio too.
Edward Sharpe (not sure if it was actually on commercial radio, but still)
Mumford
Muse
Florence
Blasko
Lisa Mitchell
etc.

well seeing that he wrote "Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind" which is a book, i dont think so
yeah as if they would know that, i wouldn't be surprised if you added that in there people would have started voting for it

i am pretty sure they check submissions.
i don't know, it seems pretty immediate when you make your own additions and when your list becomes confirmed, if you look back on the list, there's a fair amount of songs from 07-08, even their single/EP releases

Another few i thought of:

Blood - The Middle East
I've Got Friends - Manchester Orchestra
1901 - Pheonix
Velvet - The Big Pink

Ended up voting for:

Basement Jaxx - Raindrops
Boy and Bear - Mexican Mavis
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - Home
Eels - That Look You Give That Guy
Florence & The Machine - Dog Days Are Over
Little Birdy - Brother
Middle East, The - Blood
Miike Snow - Animal
Mumford & Sons - Little Lion Man
Passion Pit - Sleepyhead

Song #1: Mumford & Sons- Little Lion Man

Just due to popularity within triple J and also more mainstream stations. My actual fav songs are prob: Mexican Mavis, Blood, Home
