Has BOS been broken?

OK so last night the Woolworths i used to shop at got held up at gunpoint just before close, apparently he told the girl on register that if she didn't want to die in the next three minutes then not to move an inch. Fuck, an you imagine that? Shudder.
BUT, wait for it, he then drove of at high speeds down the road, smashed into a round-a-bout and is in intesive care, comatose.

Lol @ the relief area manager, who on the phone link this morning was like "his car is smashed into a million pieces, and he's in hospital fighting for his life, which is, ..., um....good?"

Yuk.

Roster next week:
TUE: 3.15 - 21.15 sup
SAT: 1.15 - 19.15 sup
SUN: 1.15 - 19.15 sup

GRRRRRRRR got totally cut from like 30something.
But my second and third days of part time i have to get annual leave for because i have to go to melbourne! Lolz at my CSM wanting to smash my head off when i ask her.

This article is mildly interesting:

Who wants to be the King of Cheap?
explains why there was URGENT corecomms this morning on hold up procedures.

aaah, it may explain it yes. NOT lol @ no one having any idea that we even have a hold-up alarm, let alone what do to in such an event. Our grocery mang spoke to the girl involved this morning and said she was a total mess. It'd just be horrible. Goosebumps.

Went to the Toowong Woolworths yesterday to see a fellow BoSer but didn't find him, though I do hope the renovations fix that store up. I thought I saw a bad store in Darwin, but wow, Toowong looks like the place could collapse if I sneezed at the wall. I was in the store around 3:50 as I assumed meat staff knock off shortly after 4.

I don't even want to imagine it. I guess though there is a benefit there of being in a store/centre that is insanely busy right up until close most days.

I actually found out that the Gateway Hotel in Devonport is actually owned by Woolworths so they could own a bottleshop here.
laws are different in QLD and TAS to the rest of australia. (have a read of the first link and you will see why we have so many bottle shops in QLD)

QLD(must have a hotelier's licence)
Why bottleshop rules are different in Queensland: Archives: Inside Liquor

TAS(a company/more than one person cannot hold a bottle shop licence without owning a hotel)

Woolies simply play the best music! I'd really like to know who chooses it all.
A external company runs it. In BWS, staff can call a number and record their voice and choose a song from the playlist. This is a very new feature started last month. basically before the song plays, the recorded voice comes on with the staff members name and store comes on then the song plays

Here is something you guys might be interested in. ISIS should be in all supermarkets by the end of the year. :) along with 28 Day out of code reports instead of 14, should save us a LOT of money in dumped stock. so no more back office etc :)

The store badly needs a refurb. Very old store.

Totally quit. If you don't have an interest in international relations or whatever you're doing it must suck. Talk to the HR specialist and go get a career out of Woolworths, you'll be SSM in three years, give or take a teenage pregnancy.

eesh at the holdup. =/
Closest i've ever had hapen with that was last year, a couple went through the backdock to try and escape with stock. They went into produce coolroom, they were cornered and we took the stuff off them. Walking by, there was a firedoor (which the alarm doesn't work for some reason). They snatched by the stuff and then ran through the door, we started to chase after them, and then they pulled a knife on us. everyone jumped back lol.
Was pretty funny, it was like.
*EVERYONE! AFTER HIM! - SHIT A KNIFE GET BACK INSIDE!*

yeah. XD
but i'm doing 6 days this week =.= supposed to have thurs & fri off, ended up working it. instead have sat off and i'm working sunday.
and then another 5 days next week I believe. -.-

:haha:

I'd be a great SSM. I can totally meet the KPI's:
1) Must hate CSM
2) Must be good at collecting baskets
3) Must fuck up workers comp issues
4) Must be lazy

Except I get along with my CSM really well :uhoh:

My management tutor has a fascination with Woolworths case studies. Week 1, we looked at how woolworths is an example of a highly controlled workplace. Week 2, we did a comprehensive SWOT analysis of woolworths (which I'd say I contributed 95% of). Week 3, scanning rates and how thats linked to motivation.
If only there were participation marks for that unit, I'd be awesome at it.

I still don't know what to do though :( When I was in year 12 I had no issues deciding what course/uni etc. Deferring/working ft/doing something else never came into my mind.
Maybe it should have.

I really like our SSM, whenever he wants a whinge he comes into cash office to do it, which is great for distracting me from work.
Also he seems to be the only one of the 3 managers who actually does anything, everyone seems to know to call him if you actually need someone.

Don't get me wrong, I like my SSM too. In fact I'd be actually quite annoyed if he left. But he does a good job of doing absolutely nothing a lot of the time.

Whats iLeading? I read it a couple of pages back and i`m intrigued!
iLeading - it says "ask your department manager" - I'm acting as one but don't know.
From experience I'm assuming it is when someone spots you doing something in an unsafe manner and tells you how to do it properly etc...

Ha I only just found out the other week that we had a panic alarm in our store. Not only did I not know about it, neither did the CSM, or 2IC, and a few Sups. Mainly because the thing was behind a cupboard which had been there for years.

It's there, but no body (even SM) has no idea where it goes. I'd imagine it would go to Alarm New Zealand who look after all our alarms.

Speaking of Alarms I took part in our first Fire Drill on Thursday - all the other 3 that have happened while I've been here I've missed so it was good for me. Was a bit of a shambles though...I was trying to clear the areas I was responsible for and this old lady came up to me and asked me for some Banana Boxes! I was like, Ma'am please evacuate the building to the far trolley bay..."Oh...Is it a real one?"

Stupid tart.

iLeading is a new thing that apparently the managers and DMs are doing, it's to do with how they Manage.

I can't remember the exact details but there are 3-5 core concepts, or management strategys, which you must always use or keep in mind, and then 3-4 more other concepts that you are to flexibly use depending on the situation.

I can't remember the number of each, or what they are, but that's basically what it is.
