Good PSU and keyboard + mouse (1 Viewer)

anyone know any good PSU brands?

I'll probably need a 600 watt PSU, any good brands, for about $60 ? my current PSU is 300 watt generic. its kinda pulling down my PC. (my pc feels sluggish and slow) i recently bought a new low-end, still powerful, gpu for it, it runs and everything. but when exiting a game or closing an app, the whole computer slows down and has to wait, to come back to normal.

also any good keyboards and mouses that aren't fancy or anything, just good builds that aren't too expensive. current one has buttons that don't spring up anymore, etc. is logitec a good brand?

How much are you willing to spend on kb+mouse? Are you left-handed or right-handed?

Also with kb+mouse, it's better that you go to a store and try them. What someone else likes might not be what you like.

Like I have the Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro (~$120), I love it but others hate it and it's only good for right-handers.

yeah I am right handed, I used to run integrated graphics before, after my first graphic card died. the computer would run fast. now that i put in the card, it can run games fine and all... theres just points of fluctuations where my computer seems slow, i'm thinking its my new gpu using peak power therefore the CPU and RAM Power is dubbed down by the PSU to cater for the new gpu power requirement.

I asked the lady at the comp shop, if 300 watt would run the card and she said yes it's fine for the card, but i read the card's manual and it says a 400 watt psu is recommended.


as for the keyboard and mouse, nvm i bought a standard microsoft corded keyboard and mouse, (yet to try it out).

for my laptop i have a wireless keyboard and an alto logitec stand, with a standard corded microsoft mouse.

It can't be a PSU problem, if there isn't enough power on the 12V your computer won't slow down, it will simply not run. Just out of curiosity, what are your system specs?

Because there are actually a substantial amount of female games. I see them in every EB shop - I guess it's discrimination if they don't have one on shift all the time.

specs:
Q6600 - quad 2.4 ghz
gt 220 512 MB dedicated ddr3 VRAM (I think) However i think it does 1 GB turbocache <----- this could be the slow down problem.
2 gb ddr2 ram
320 gb 7,200 rpm hdd
19" monitor
300 watt generic psu
dvd RW+

the turbo cache uses the ram to make up the 1 GB, so therefore i suppose when a game exits it takes a while for the ram to dump the graphic memory and revert back to normal conditions ? there prob is an option to disable turbo cache. I got to look for one

edit i used one of those psu calculators online and it said roughly that i'm using 314 watts (lol) - its a rough guess.

PSU calculators give you overhead in case you upgrade in the future. If you used this, http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp, there are two results, "Minimum PSU Wattage" and "Recommended PSU Wattage", I think you read the recommended one. Minimum will run the system fine but won't give you overclocking headroom or allow you to upgrade in the future.

On max load,

Q6600: 100W
GT220: 75W (it draws all of its power from PCIe and each slot does 75W max, I think the GT220 would be less though, like 50W)
HDD: 10W
ODD: 10W
RAM: 5W per DIMM
Fans: 2W each

So yeah, around 200W.

hmmm, because when i run a game, the fans speed up like crazy. Dunno if thats the PSU about to give. (but hey, its lasted this long).

edit: just did used that site for calculations. (and put more specs in) my minimum is 231 watts, recommended is 281) so i guess thats why my PC hasn't blow up yet

would it benefit from having more watts to deal with? like say 500ish watts?

lol at this, 4 Electrolytic capacitor aging. When used heavily or over an extended period of time (1+ years) a power supply will slowly lose some of its initial wattage capacity. We recommend you add 10-20% if you plan to keep your PSU for more than 1 year, or 20-30% for 24/7 usage and 1+ years.

wowowowow 200 watt can run like a stone age pc. My 3 year old one had a 500W PSU my current one has a 875W PSU it's hard to believe a 200W can still run a decent computer.
