good laptop brands (1 Viewer)

i'm starting university this year and want to buy a laptop but have no clue when it comes to choosing good brands. so with that said, could you please list some good brands/models?? (and btw, my parents are cheapo's, so my price range is under $1K)

Get a MacBook Air from the US Apple Store while the exchange rate is still awesome, they're $200 cheaper than the Aussie store.

As for brands, you can't really go wrong with a well known brand.

Acer/Gateway/emachines/Packard Bell
Apple
ASUS
Dell/Alienware
Fujitsu
HP/Compaq
Lenovo
MSI
Panasonic
Samsung
Sony
Toshiba

They're all good, some people might say that Dells break easily or Acers break easily but they're just unlucky, most of them are fine.

Get a well known and just get extended warranty (they will first offer it for aroudn 60-70) but usually come down to around 30$

its not the computers that don't appeal to me...its more the mac program...i prefer microsoft

A netbook is a type of laptop, they're smaller and more portable but this comes at the cost of performance. They're the type of laptops the Year 9s get.
