NOTE: the BOS user XVIP3R is cool. i hav posted numerous difficult mx2 questions in past and he has answered all of them so i no hes actually smart and doesnt rote learn like other Ruse kids.

And how is it being arrogant.. im just stating that schools of all ranks are sharing notes now, not just baulko and ruse so your point about how students care about other students and not just themselves is a little invalid. We've been sharing notes since the start of yr 7, if it be for agriculture or pe or geo or history. Whilst we do care about our ranks, were not going to forget the people who need a hand. That in many ways, is the secret to our success.

For someone who has friends at Epping Boys, that comment earlier was uncalled for. People there work hard. They work hard regardless of the scaling, regardless of the ATAR, because they want to do what's right, they want to have their success, they have dreams. It is those people who deserve the credit, rather than the 99.5+ ppl at ruse or baulko.

I reakon 93-95.5, you performance will mostly be determined by how well you do on the HSC, as you are coming first in 6 units. Also, having 13 units could really help your ATAR.

Well as an ex-Ruse, I can say lots of students are actually naturally smart.

And we do have sport, contrary to popular belief... Our sporting teams are about average in the area; not the worst, not the best.

Whether the atmosphere is competitive is dependent on the grade culture. In my grade it wasn't very competitive, but common jokes targeted towards the smart people were, "hope you get 100 ATAR, so I get better scaling!" So at times there was complacency.

There is quite a lot of inter-grade interaction, so people typically know each other from different grades because of all the school activities we have: Musical, Cadets, etc. However, the higher grades always give the lower grades crap about how dumb they are. Ruse will probably fall out of its place within the next 10 years? (...famous last words)

Personally, I'm not very smart. I'm one of those people who are categorised as "study to get good results". I don't mind being labelled as that because I believe in working hard to get the results; putting in the hard yards is satisfying as you feel you deserved all your marks.

Nevertheless, there will always be overarching comments about schools and unavoidable in BoredofStudies (troll central).

besides, the selective test is arbitrary; after all, it IS mostly a multiple choice test. go figure when some dude got 40 atar at our school last year. the aforementioned godly girl barely got above the cutoff for baulko, nearly didn't get in, but she's owning everyone now. and the dude who's first in phys and mx1 and is really intelligent, bound to state rank something, only came to our school last year. not all the smart kids go to ruse, so they shouldn't be copping all the shit for having introverts.

one of our family friends went to ruse. and he studied for 12 hours a day on weekends, up until 4 am every weeknight, studied during the holidays as well for 10 hours a day. i asked him why he did so much and he said he had no choice bcuz the school makes u into that sort of a person.

and he spent 80% of that study time on maffs, the subject that supposedly got him into ruse. so dont give me this bullshit about ruse kids being naturally smart.
