Dixon does things simply but it's easy to understand.
Riley is a lot more in depth though.

Imo, Riley but they're both great books.

For English I just bought a few study guides by Cliffcomplete and Top Notes and both of them look quite good. I'm not sure if they have all of the prescribed texts, but I did manage to get a book for every text that my school is doing, so it may be worth having a look at.
