I would recommend The Economist as a great source for the topic regarding globalisation.

Not a fan of the Gittins worshipping at the HSC level.

Remember it's just one perspective. Consider what he says critically, don't just read it as fact.

Ross Gittins is not god.

Do you recommend anyone particular or do you recommend reading a variety of articles by different people?

agreed. ross gittins simply presents a single PERSPECTIVE on particular economic issues intertwined with some facts/statistics, but what he says should not necessarily be accepted as correct. don't be afraid to form your own opinion on the issues presented.

There is no single opinion within the realm of economics so make sure you read widely. Restricting yourself to one opinion doesn't allow you to properly analyse economic issues which is imperative in this subject.

I try to read a range of articles that are available on the internet from a range of countries. It may not relate directly to the syllabubs, but there are so many newspapers out there, more often then not there will be something that you can use. Personalty I like to use the New York Times, international business section. I find that they present a more objective view with all the stats that you will need.
Also it isn't so bad to look at perspectives that are not Australian. Even in your Prelim course there is a section where you need to look at another country.

Just to further expand on this particular point I made:

The Economist is great resource in regards to its coverage to economic and political issues globally. When you're considering your case study for the first topic of the HSC course, this is a great place to find ideas and perhaps articles which pertain to your country of interest.

China seems to be popular choice among HSC students as a case study (I myself did Estonia), and The Economist has recently started up a weekly section on China, thus separating from Asia so you'll find much more coverage regarding Chinese issues.
