Re: The Official Football Thread

My fantasy EURO team has been doing very badly, probably due to low scoring games and unforeseen results though. Only 28 points in the McDonalds one.

Did SBS show more matches in 2008 or was that just me?

Re: The Official Football Thread

almost perfect.
congratulations to ukraine for coming from behind, and im very glad that france stole a point out of their game against england
I got the 1-2 mixed around :(

Sweden are rubbish without Ibra though i'm happy for Shevo with his brace, what a champ

Good to see that I finally got a prediction right. Now to get the correct score.

Group A/B

Greece 0-0 Czech Republic
Poland 1-3 Russia

Denmark 1-1 Portugal
Netherlands 2-2 Germany
I'll only do Group A

Greece 1-2 Czechs
Poland 1-2 Russia

Re: The Official Football Thread

anyone watch Japan v Australia?

I watched the last few minutes only.. had a concert to go to.

I loved the troll ref!

It's like:

*award Japan free kick about 25m from goal*

*Schwarzer arranges his four person wall*

*Japan is about to take the free kick*

*referee blows final whistle*

everyone on Japan bench was like ?????????

I burst out laughing.

Re: The Official Football Thread

Redknapp has left Spurs. Quite interesting to see how they will progress from here on in.

Moyes is the bookmakers favourite for the post and it would be a great move for him despite the respect I have for Everton.

Di Matteo has also been handed a two year contract as permanent manager of Chelsea.

Group C/D Predictions:

Italy 2 - 1 Croatia
Spain 2 - 0 Republic of Ireland

Ukraine 1 - 1 France
Sweden 0 - 1 England

They'll fail. Stupid decision to sack the manager that took them from the relegation places into the champions league quarters. As for di matteo being appointed... it should of been done earlier but hey, at least the right decision was made in the end

Re: The Official Football Thread

Hard to predict whether Spurs will collapse or not. Modric is probably gone and Bale will follow him, VDV said he'll stay but that was before the sacking but Levy probably had a contingency plan since Feb when Arry was linked to England

As for RDM, exciting times for Chelsea but I highly doubt they'll reach the heights last season

Italy 2-1 Croatia
Spain 3-0 Ireland

Re: The Official Football Thread

Whelan and Andrews were horrific, completely out of their depth against Spain

Dunne and Given are a joke

Re: The Official Football Thread

Should have saved Torres' first goal, but admittedly was a tough save

Punched back the ball to Silva for Spain's second which was inexcusable

I don't think he'll get much time there either. Should move to a Championship club where he'll actually do something

Re: The Official Football Thread

He's quite content at just being able to stay in the top flight (re Man Utd)

Also England thriller, who would've predicted that
