He knows your marks but not ATAR.

This is due to the fact that marks are done by the BoS while the ATAR is determined by UAC.

Your school shouldn't/wouldn't give out your HSC marks, and your the only one who finds out your ATAR.

hmm, but if you told the princible not to tell other teachers, they wouldnt right?
Well he wouldn't be the only one who knows, at my school the executive staff all know. And then teacher seek them from the executive.

Why don't you want anyone to know?

Surely the teachers that taught you would be curious to know what you got as a HSC mark?

Why are you so desperate to hide it?

As a teacher I would be really hurt if one of my students didn't want me to know how they went. I know that I put a lot of my time and effort into helping them so I do think I also have a stake in their results (and if the pay etc of teachers is going to be determined with marks of students in external exams playing a part then they most certainly will have a stake).

I am a nervous wreck from the moment my students enter the exam room until the leave and come and tell me how they found the exam and then I don't sleep well the night before they get their results and start checking my emails from about 6.00 a.m. onwards waiting for them to let me know.

If only all teacher were like that.

Some teachers don't even know your name after 2 terms of teaching you.

But yes, I do agree that teachers shiuld have the right to see results of students.

Beyond their right to see the results, I also think its important for the school to analyse their performance to help identify strengths and weaknesses.

@OP considering your inability to construct structured sentences that actually make sense, the only mark you should be hiding from your principal is your ESL mark

Aw you're such a dedicated teacher Cem :) But I think teacher definitely have a stake in knowing. I'd feel bad not telling them even if it were optional, I'd have to thank them for the help they've given to me over the HSC even if I'm a little disappointing with the mark I get in the end. Or celebrate if we're both ecstatic with it! Knowing class performance might help the teacher to tweak teaching methods etc. so they definitely should know.
