Lets say you go to a school ranked in 250s, and you are coming first in all your subjects (except adv english), and you ace your externals. Do you still have a chance of getting a 99.95.... OR is it impossible just cuz u go to a low ranked school?
Does it really matter?

If you ace everything, there's no reason why not. School rank does not hinder your ATAR.

It's not possible if your not ranked first in english at a 250 ranked school. Because usually if you are going to get 99.95 you will dominate any of your subjects at whatever school from last to james ruse. So if you aren't top in english, point 95 gone.

You better be hoping that the guy beating you in English is insane (95++) - if he/she is, then yes it's definitely possible.

Is this for you? Seeing as you do standard english err maybe, depends how badly you're ranked in english.. are you 2nd or like 20th?

Lowest ranked school

99/100 raw all your subjects

> 99.95
Not many people get 99/100 raw, except maybe 2 and 3u maths (where people definitely get 100/100 raw). You just gotta be ranked first in your school for all your subjects (and the subjects have to scale well of course). And even if you get 99/100 raw, if you aren't ranked first in your school (which if we assume is >200 in its ranking), depending on the quality of students at your school and your subject ranks, you may or may not get 99.95

School rank can most certainly hinder your atar. Say you were ranked 20th for a subject, and you absolutely gun your exam and get 98 for your exam mark, if the 20th highest mark in your school was only 88, your Assessment mark is 88, your HSC mark is 93, and thus hinders your atar.

Its also important to realise that it works both ways. If you were ranked 1st, and you screw up an exam (in your own opinion of screwing up) and receive an exam mark of 90, if the highest mark was 96, your assessment mark is 96 and your HSC mark is 93, boosting you up.

100% raw in everything and only 90 in english could probs do it too

But so much freak must you be
don't even need 100% in everything if with 90 english
probably the safe level is around HSC marks of 98ish in high scaling subjects? idk (but that's actually far below 100% cause % implies raw)

95% raw in everything can and a 90 in English can probably get you 99.95 - assuming MX1, MX2, Physics and Chemistry.

That's not your school rank fault, that's YOUR fault for being ranked 20th. School rank is irrelevant. If that same student was to even attempt to go to JRAHS, they wouldn't even be accepted, and if he was to go to a random higher ranked school, they'd receive an even lower internal ranking. Your school rank doesn't hinder your atar, only you can hinder your atar.

If this is a personal Q with Std English no. Theoreotically yes, but really no. Getting a 99.95 with standard is near impossible anyway.

Q considering with advanced english, no, if you want a 99.95 you'd want to 1st in everything even english in a rank 100+ school. Only in the top 100s would it be likely you could get a .95 without outright firsts in every sub.

I think slyhunter meant that the school rank is not what pulls you down. You cohort may if you are not ranked well, but just because you are 'ranked' 250 doesn't restrict you from getting 99.95.
