Hmm. Why do you reckon you would need as a raw mark to get aligned 97? Do all state rankers get 100 aligned?

That was for state rank. For Band 6 I'd say 86-87

I'm saying 87-88 tbh. But I agree, besides BOP and case study, the other essays were pretty hard compared to last years.

Oh my bad, I didn't read the post before it.
But yeah the marks are definitely gonna be high this year. Some kid in my grade ranked 30 was like omg im gonna get a band 6!!! We all are!!! And I was pretty much like..... fml -____- last year only 9 people from my school was a band 6 and the year before that was 13... I'm ranked 11th so I'm crossing my fingers (two people are on 9th so I lost 10th place boohoo).

My teacher is involved in the judging of the papers and the setting of cutoffs as she didn't have a Yr 12 class this year. I will let you know what it was when they have judged it

Even though theres not a whole lot of data it seems like the cutoff last year was about 85-ish, considering the difference between the difficulty and cutoffs for 2010 and 2011 it seems likely that the cutoff for 2012 could easily be in the high 80s.

But guys you never know, cos from what I've heard a lot of smart kids seemed to have made silly mistakes here and there. Sure it was an easy paper, but considering these mistakes...

Silly mistakes don't affect cut offs haha, that happens in all HSC exams =P

It's been said but the cutoff will definetly not be higher than 86, considering it was 80-81. Most likely 83-84 imo.

Consider the 2009 exam, which imo was of similar ease (essays easier somewhat due to the whole state knowin there would be a GFC question, while short answer a little harder). A raw mark of 87 translated into an aligned external mark of 94. Imposssible for the Band 6 to be that high.

87 to 94 seems a bit high... you sure it wasn't 90 to 94?

I hope you're right though. I'm aiming for a 94/95 and I'm feeling an 89-92 raw...

When? Like i said, it appears the 2011 cut off was close to 85 and the 2011 exam was more difficult than this years.
