Most of us here are volunteers, and we only have limited time to devote to the site. Likewise, most of us are not versed in IT or web development. We're also currently in between webmasters, and therefore, anything that is not absolutely crucial takes time to deal with. Especially if the code decides to be unpredictable. We realise there is a problem, and we're working on solutions, but we do ask that you be patient for the time being. Search will be fixed as soon as we have the time, skills and resources available to do so.

That really wouldn't help anything and even if it were feasible would be a pretty bad idea in my opinion.

The problem with search is far more complex and serious than appears. Rest assured it is being worked on.
In the meantime please use google search (add site:community.boredofstudies.org to the search term)
