Hey, I guess this post is not relevant to this forum but I could not find any other place to post.
anyway it happened yesterday conversation with my friend. he told me everyone in james ruse does 4 unit math.
is this true? because back in my memory, I met a girl from james ruse and her math was not so special.

Not everyone does 4U maths. That is a brazen assumption.

No, at Ruse there are around 96 students allowed to do 4u and the rest do 3u and around 8 to 10 do 2u.

Around 8 to 10 do 2u? so among 1000 people in james ruse, 100 do 4u 890 do 3u 10 do 2u? what the hell is wrong with 10 people whos doing 2u.. I feel sorry for them all of sudden :p

dat is a load of BS.

Sydney Grammar - Nope.
Sydney Boys - Well... there's 120ish spots for 4U out of like 200 kids?

EDIT:

Unless, it's some dodgy private school with only like 10 kids sitting the HSC and they all do 4U but with a legit cohort... no way.

I heard that the people that don't do four unit get severely bullied. There is this story of this James Ruse person showing a new guy around and they saw a guy sitting alone and the new person got told "Don't talk to him he only does 2unit maths lol".

I apologise I am not familiar with selective schools.

Like even if you're unfamiliar, like srsly... not everyone in a school will do 4U when you think about it.

Even in the very best schools....

4U isn't something that's meant to be done by everyone, no?

Hey, just because it shouldn't be happening doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

And no, I reckon there could be a possibility where everyone in a school does 4U.

-_- sigh, Sy (pun intended lol #greatcomedian) as people are saying, the better schools where there are more smart kids (and thus makes you think its more likely theyre all doing 4u) only let a certain amount of kids do 4u to maximise the overall school performance in it. Letting everyone do it would be.... risky for their 4u rep haha

If the school has like a very very small talented cohort, sure.

But a normal sized cohort. Let's say 100 to 200 Year 12s, defs not.

Heck, even at Ruse (the ultimate specialist at the Asian combo of Phys, Chem, 3U/4U), there's apparently a few kids doing 2U. So if Ruse doesn't even have everyone doing 3U..........let alone 4U then yeah.

Being realistic but not everyone can/wants to/will do 4U maths in a school. A possibility exists sure but when we take into account the trends and statistics then I don't see it happening unless someone opens up a school and forces every kid to do 4U.

Factors I can think of on why not EVERYONE can be doing 4U in a grade:
- There's bound to be dat odd kid in a cohort who does no maths... often happens.
- Schools place a limit on the amount of 4U spots.
- Schools care about the E4/band 6s and 4U is quite difficult to get an E4 despite the fact that nearly a 1/3 of the state gets an E4.
- Some kids who get into the top schools might go downhill in their mathematical ability since Year 7. Wasted talent and whatnot. James Ruse gets the cream of the Year 6 crop but not ALL of the kids are at the very top by Year 12 like they were in Year 6 --> people can change.
- Some people prefer to do 2U/3U because 4U is a big workload that can affect their other subjects.
