Guy's law exams are open book, but what exactly does this mean, does it mean I can bring in textbook + written up notes, or can I go full out and print off hundreds of pages of summaries and all my prescribed reading and stick them in a folder and bring them in, then organise them so I can easily get to what I want? Surely this is preferable to written notes as computer generated notes can be easier to read over quickly and differentiate from mountains of blue pen ink.. if that is the case some people bring in massive ring folders of works??

You can bring anything that is printed out or handwritten. So if you want you can bring 1000 pages of notes. The thing is, will you have time to read it all?

Also being an open book does not make it any easier.

yea no one uses hand written notes unless they are super neat :)

Some people bring loads of textbooks but they end up not using it. You just need to bring notes that cover the topics and that is sufficient. I just bring my booklet of notes to exam and my prescribed textbook. Altogether 2 stuff and that is sufficient.

This pretty much. At Notre Dame, we also have fully open book law exams for most units and you find that having all that material doesnt make the exam any easier. From my experiences, even though you can bring materials in, you still need to know the content extremely well because generally have little time to use your books/notes. I only used them to get the names of cases I had forgotten or to confirm a test for a legal issue (usually I remembered the main stuff, but sometimes I had to confirm for other smaller things).
