how high? econometrics and honours level finance and economics require the highest in the business majors. Apart from actuarial studies of course.
In all honesty though, it isn't too difficult in the grand scheme of things as the concepts are very much grounded in reality rather than being abstract theory (for the layman of course).

A reasonable understanding of Ext. 2 Maths or first year maths would be all that is expected conceptually at its worst. Otherwise, much of the maths will be taught in class.

for my sake, I hope you are right!

And I also heard that "real world" economics did not entail that much mathematics? In the RBA for example?

A common skill required for economists is the ability to construct models.

A strong grounding in econometrics does a world of wonders. Generally that's why Honours students find it easier to get into the RBA.

I thought that economics was more theory based than maths.. guess that's where I'm wrong!
I might do finance or accounting as my major for business, but that's if I can handle the maths!
