Choosing between the two. Not sure which one is better. UTS seems more specialised while USYD is more broad based. Some tell me that USYD Communications course is dismal but not sure what to make of that.
Any suggestions?

Are we talking Media and Comm?

I'd go with UTS, more practical for a footing in journalism. USYD is more theoretical. (Sister did journo and have friends in USYD media and comm)

Oh okay. Thanks for response. I was just thinking about Asian prestige factor on whether to choose USYD or not.

Urgh, nah don't do the prestige thing(coming from a USYDer lol), do which course is best for you. Every uni has its niches. What are you planning to go into after Media&Comm? UTS has probs the best employability as it's more hands on even though journo has like no jobs atm. Prestige isn't really a factor in journo, most of it is doing interns and making connections tbh, letting some papers suck your blood for free for a bit, having good marks regardless of uni etc.

I was thinking public relations , marketing or journalism. Nothing concrete yet. Lol and the ATAR for Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) does seem pretty high at 98.5.

A lot of people get hung up, that the higher the cut off is, the better it must be. But there are so many factors to look at. Many different degrees can lead to PR, marketing or journalism, there's not one *stock* degree for it.

Though if you are super interested in USYD Media Comm but worried about the 98.5, look into flexible entry. It can lower the cut off by five points if you show relevant desire and experience (like internships, writing comps) etc.
