Ebert: HELP! These radical left-wing subversives want to usurp the government and want to establish a Communist state! Oh no, who will I turn to? Yes, I know, I will rely on these RIGHT wing institutions who ALSO hate us to protect us from uprisings instigated by Communists!
Groener: Hello, I'm the head of the military, and Ebert, it's really common knowledge that right-wingers like I hate you. But that's okay; we can protect you if you promise not to interfere with the army.
Ebert: Okay, okay, quick! Protect us from these ugly, red monsters! Please!
I think it mainly has to do with the fact that it increased the power and influence of the Military, whilst reducing the influence which the government had over the Military. I mean, the pact's existence itself shows the inherent problem - a government needs to create an alliance with its military for protection. That's a problem in and of itself.how did this help the demise of weimar in regards to nationalism
