Anyone have any info on this at all?? Very hard to find on the rest of the Internet. I'm looking for info like working hours, pay, pay progression, exit opps.

Do you actually want to obtain a B.Econ. (Hons.) and then a Ph.D. in economics?

The details that you are looking for are probably contained in Reserve Bank of Australia Salaried Employees Award 2000.

Public sector dream for me mate.
In general, working hours will be great - pay won't be - but if you get into the board when you're older - solid stuff.

Lol, you don't have to "try" for Hons in economics - you get offered with a mark above 75 at USYD.

Working hours are pretty standard and there is an element of flexibility. Pay is pretty decent but nothing too flashy (it's a government job, what do you expect?). Definitely good exit opportunites with the skills you pick up from it. I'd say from what I heard progression is a bit slow because there is a low turnover in senior positions.
