Hello All... :)

I have to give to give a 5 minute speech for an English Assessment.... Approximately how many words would you read at a medium pace? i.e. With pauses etc...

Thanks... :D

the speech should probably be 700min - 800 max.
Then I guess you should just find a comfortable pace to speak it within the time limit.

I recommend 900 at most. I remember my speech that was 4.37 was around 825 words. I speak at a medium speed and always enunciate my words coherently. Ours was meant to be 4.30 with 30s leeway, I assume yours is 5 + 30s leeway? 900 give or take 25 should be perfect :) Ideally you want to land in the 4.50 - 5.10 range, but definitely limit the words if they take too long to say, and stuff your flow of words. I remember I could never use 'specifically' in a speech because my tongue apparently can't handle it when there's pressure :haha: So you want to be mindful of words that would slow you down or stuff up your flow too.

Yeah ok, that sounds good...:)
You assumed right!! It is 5 + 30s leeway... That's right, I'm planning for it to land in that range...
Hehe... That's true... :D A good point... Will consider that... :)
Thanks for your comments.

Did a speech with a partner 720 words roughly in 4 minutes if that helps?
