Can you guys plz help me with this question
It is 2011 HSC paper Q20
The answer is B but i cannot work out the answer

200/12 =50/3 that is the number of moles. 50/3 x 16 = 800/3 that is the mass of half of an oxygen molecule
Now 50/3 x 32 = 1600/3 that is the mass of an oxygen molecule
Add up; 1600/3 + 800/3 + 400 = 1200 mg = 1.2kg

but i thought the question asked u to find the mass of gas produced not consumed so wouldnt it be finding the mass of CO and CO2

(200/12.01) moles in both of CO2 and CO.
Mass= (200/12.01)(12.01+12.01+32+16) = 1199.3

why 200g? i thought it said equal amount of C was used so wouldnt it be 400 for both ? why divide it ?

"What would be the total amount of gas produced when 400g of charcoal is reacted, assuming equal amounts are consumed in each reaction", so when they say this, they mean that the maximum amount of charcoal used is 400g, hence when they say "equal amounts are consumed", like previous posts stated, they mean for the maximum amount of charcoal to be halved for each equation.
But yea, I guess it's the way you read the question...
