last years exam had an e4 cutoff of 48/70 so i'm not surprised tbh. it wouldnt normally be that low though!Omg, how is 76% for 3U aligned to 92%. Wtf that is so good

Well, it seems like Board of Studies are now letting schools access the raw marks for externals of their students (of course, note they have pretty much always had access to the aligned external marks of their students, but not raw marks...)
As a result, for the 2013 HSC, a teacher has let us know the following raw marks were adjusted to these aligned marks as below. By the way, rep will be appreciated for this valuable info
EXTENSION 2 MATHS (4U) - NB: Actual exam was out of 100.
60% (raw) --> 87% (aligned)
65% (raw) --> 90% (aligned)
70% (raw) --> 92% (aligned)
75% (raw) --> 93% (aligned)
80% (raw) --> 94% (aligned)
86% (raw) --> 96% (aligned)
90% (raw) --> 97% (aligned)
93% (raw) --> 98% (aligned)
EXTENSION 1 MATHS (3U) - NB: Actual exam was out of 70.
64% (raw) --> 88% (aligned)
67% (raw) --> 90% (aligned)
70% (raw) --> 91% (aligned)
76% (raw) --> 92% (aligned)
92% (raw) --> 97% (aligned)
99% (raw) --> 100% (aligned)
Okay, cool! Hope that provides some insight. Esp with it being stats from last year...
Nah man, E4 cutoffs for MX2 have always been in that range. Average of 65, maybs 63 for a hard paper, potentially even 66-67 for an easy paper+1
But Why does the 4u one have a 90 at 65? Isnt that very low for such a high scaled mark?
E4 cut offs have generally been in that area of 63-67.+1

An outstanding case of diminishing returns.That's a little sad - 80-81% in 4U usually gets you around 95 and 86% gets you 96?! So a 6% difference for 1 extra HSC mark??? That's the area that I'm sitting around. 95 is a great mark but jeez there's some diminishing returns there
no worriesBtw thanks for putting this up Mreditor ))
yeh i agree well said.That's a little sad - 80-81% in 4U usually gets you around 95 and 86% gets you 96?! So a 6% difference for 1 extra HSC mark??? That's the area that I'm sitting around. 95 is a great mark but jeez there's some diminishing returns there
If you haven't already done so, evaluate your mistakes and compare it with the overkill CSSA sample answers. It it essential that you should understand the criteria so that you can maximise your marks since it is sort of similar in the hsc, that way you know what is expected.i completely stuffed my trials for 4u and 3u
my raw mark in 4u is 62
and raw mark in 3u is 69
my teacher told me im looking at early 80's in 4u and mid 80's in 3u
my ranking is terrible as i have a class of freaks!
somebody give me a confidence boost i really want 90+ in 3u and 87+ in 4u
sat the CSSA trials in math btw

HahahaRaw mark of 69 in 3U is 69/70
You sure you are talking about raw marks (hint: you are not).
I think OP is giving percentages....Raw mark of 69 in 3U is 69/70
