hitler didn't have much to do with the nazi state tbh mostly just a figurehead

You need to make a judgement on Hitler's role, was he the center of everything (the fuhrer) or just lazy and relied on other party members. is really the hardest part of the syllabus.

I did this essay and my approach was similar to the "Nazism as totalitarianism" question. I went for a mixed response like this:

Thesis: Hitler played a central role in the Nazi state and had near total control, but he didnt always exert his power and he lacked economic power
Point One: Hitler was in charge and no one really contested his power (i.e. Fuhrerprincip)
Point Two: Hitler was not really involved in the day-to-day administration of Germany. His focus was on foreign affairs and military issues
Point Three: Hitler didnt have much economic control, as German industrialists retained their power as a result of a deal in order to get their support for Hitler's rise to power

I think I had another paragraph, but I cant remember what I wrote.
