UPDATE:

Last week we went and saw the First Class 14 exhibition at Lake Macquarie Gallery. It was amazing! Very inspiring.

Okay, I'm up to the next layers of my background by adding darker and thicker paint on top of the water wash layers.

I've got two artworks on the way. Hopefully one of them will be ready by the end of the week to start the foreground- fingers crossed.
My other artwork should be ready by next week and then I have to add the nature sequence then the portraits which hopefully will come around by the end of this term. After that, I'll start on my centre panel which I predict to be starting a week or so before holidays.
Once the main forms are done I can add greater details and continue with final layers.

I'm very excited! But it's hard work :p

Oh WOW :D That's amazing, I can't believe you've already started your BOW. Good on you:) I'm so far behind haha, I've just narrowed down my concept<3 So excited to start experimenting (finally) but with the half-yearlys coming up I think class would be more theory focused :c

Does everyone know what their half-yearlies are going to be based around? Mine is probably going to be modernism or post-modernism.

Yeah it's tricky juggling the academic side with the practical side :p. Some people in my class are spending extra time planning because their artwork is spontaneous or doesn't have a huge process in layering down paint or sculpting ect. :) Don't stress!

Our half yearlies are multiple question extended responses and unseen artworks I think. Just like the HSC exam.

I stuffed up my work by putting too much impasto on the sky, now I have to get rid of it which is a pain. Any suggestions of getting off dried impasto?

Omg! Try sanding it then applying special rubbing alcohol but I think that will remove the gesso and undercoats too :p

Could you still work with the impasto being too thick? If you build up more layers on the other areas of the artwork will it then look in proportion once you're getting along with it?

Thanks, I'll try sanding it and applying with some paint remover haha

I left mine at home. I really don't trust the bus all that much :D

OMG I'm so excited! We're going to Artexpress at the AGNSW on Thursday!!!
I never brought my work home lol. I just leave it in school and work on it when I'm in school. I Cbb carry a heavy board home, maybe I'll do so when the term has almost ended lol.

Omg! We're also going to agnsw for an excursion next week! Our teacher hasn't confirmed yet, it could be either Wednesday or Thursday, it depends.

Haha, tell me what time you'll be there haha. If we do go on Thursday!

Damn! Your school has so many excursions! Do you go to a private school? We only have one for art this year which is going to art gallery of nsw to see the artwork from someone who got selected last year haha

I guess we won't pass each other haha.
Oh well, maybe next Art Express our artworks will be hanging next to each other....

:D

UPDATE:

I worked hard today!

Finally finished the layered background for my first artwork and outlined the portrait in black paint! Very exciting!

My second artwork is slowly getting built up. I did some extra layering today as well as splatter spots to add texture.

I completed some messy VAPD updates. Tomorrow I need to get more progress photos before moving on to the next stage.

I'm working with complementary colours so there is plenty of visual interest! I'm having a great time on my BOW! :D :D

Still deciding if the centre piece is going to be more rectangular or square shaped. Idk... I'll get onto that another day.

And now I'M GOING TO SLEEP ahhhh bed. <3

UPDATE:

Art was annoying today.

I layered on some more paint onto painting #2. That went alright. Was kinda happy with that.

I started my #1 main portrait and it just looks stupid so hopefully I'm just putting it down to my being flustered that I couldn't look at it with an even mind so I just walked away before ruining it some more...

Butttttt, I did perfect my concept which was exciting :)

How is everyone else going? Any 2015 VArt people out there?

Hi everyone!!!

It's been a while since my last update, but you know, half yearlies and stuff...

UPDATE:

I've actually really been enjoying my work now! My artworks are coming along really well, I'm quite happy with them.

Is everyone taking their artworks home for the holidays?
