Let's just take my japanese continuers class for eg. I'm ranked around the middle in a class of 15 people. But most of our marks are pretty similar (like a 3 mark difference max) So even if i were to rank last in Japanese cont internally, would i be dragged down by alot?

Only if someone goofs in the external exam. Then you'll take the lowest external mark as your moderated assessment mark.

If you come second in internals, but you get a higher external mark - first place will get it.

Same applied to lowest internal rank - you would get the lowest external mark. Or so thats what I'm hearing.

@Librah I love that signature, it just seems so...immaculate. There is something about it that makes it look so beautiful.

No not really, unless there's some obvious bias in marking at your school, it's alright to assume that you will perform at a comparative level in the externals compared to internals. It's the fairest way i can think of, unless they want to make the external exams 100% of your total HSC mark.

Your ranking will assist with your scaling is how I see it. If you get a higher internal rank, it gives you a chance to either be the represent for your cohort for that subject - this also means that if the person who comes first forget to drink their coffee and flops the external, I think it affects the school (anyone in that subject).

It's a standardised test, it will always be unfair to a handful of students.

So. You either do your best and rank top 3 in each class. Or you do your best and work with your class so that your class is equal top in some ideal way.
